FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Polygraph Today FAQ Accordion
Who should take a polygraph test?

Generally, any person who desires to verify their truthfulness regarding a specific situation or incident is a good candidate for a polygraph. This often includes:

  • Individuals involved in criminal or civil litigation.
  • Employees in specific sectors (Government, Armored Car).
  • Individuals complying with probation or IPN requirements.
How long does a polygraph examination take?

A professionally administered polygraph examination normally takes between 90 minutes and 3 hours.

This duration ensures accuracy and includes three distinct phases:

  1. Pre-test Phase: An in-depth discussion of the case facts and questions.
  2. Test Phase: The actual data collection.
  3. Post-test Phase: A discussion of the test details.
Can nervousness cause me to fail the test?

No. General nervousness does not cause a client to fail.

It is perfectly normal for everyone to feel anxious during a polygraph. An innocent person may fear being falsely accused, while a guilty person fears detection. Our experienced examiners are trained to identify and separate this general "nervous tension" from the specific physiological responses that indicate deception.

Do you offer polygraph tests for relationship or infidelity issues?

Yes, but with a specific requirement: Therapist Referral Only.

Infidelity issues can have a lasting impact on families. We believe professional therapy is the primary solution. We will conduct these exams only when referred by a verified professional therapist who believes the test will aid in the healing or decision-making process.

Does medication or high blood pressure affect the test?

Medication: You should continue taking your prescribed medications as usual. However, you must inform the examiner of what you are taking before the test begins so they can account for any physiological effects on the charts.

High Blood Pressure: While blood pressure is one of the reactions measured, having high blood pressure does not prevent us from conducting a valid and accurate test.

What other types of polygraph services do you provide?

We provide comprehensive polygraph services for various needs, including:

  • Pre-Employment Screening: For government agencies, law enforcement, and armored car companies.
  • Legal Defense & Litigation: Verifying witness statements for criminal or civil cases.
  • Property Crimes & Theft: Investigating hidden assets or theft (following EPPA guidelines).
  • Professional Tournaments: Screening for fishing or gaming tournaments.
  • Compliance Testing: IPN (Nurses) and PCSOT (Probation/Parole) testing.

  • Follow your normal routine.
